Robert C. Collins II, CPP/MH is the President of Global Packaging Optimization, LLC. GPO a specializes in helping clients optimize the organizational structure, processes and performance of Package Development. He has led many initiatives to define and/or vastly improve organizational performance. These initiatives have resulted in the best possible packaging being developed to result in successful product launches and redesigns, meeting all timing, cost and Sustainability objectives. Consequently, GPO can help you optimize your Package Development function.
GPO can also assist in completing package design and development programs for new and existing products. His primary technical expertise’s include all types of plastics, paperboard, flexible material and dispensing system component design, development, implementation and optimization. This experience includes being an expert in injection molded and blow molded part design. GPO can help, beginning with developing concepts all the way through to successful implementation in production and consumer satisfaction. We also have vast experience in the production of packaging components and the production processes used to package the final product for successful distribution and success in the marketplace.
GPO also has experience as an Expert witness in packaging litigation issues.
Prior to forming GPO, his experience spanned seven major corporations, Procter & Gamble/Gillette. The Gillette Co., The Dial Corp., The Drackett Company (Bristol-Myers Squibb), Amway, Baxter-Travenol Labs and Packaging Corporation of America. Throughout his career, he refined the leadership and collaboration skills required to successfully define and implement innovative package development organizations and technical solutions. These organizations operated seamlessly on a both a US based and global level. They also delivered significantly increased capacity with flawless performance. He was frequently recognized by his employers with awards for technical and leadership excellence.
Mr. Collins has maintained an active presence in helping to improve the packaging industry throughout his career. This involvement included being a Professional Member of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP). He achieved earning Lifetime status as a Certified Professional in Packaging and Materials Handling (1976) and held several National positions with IoPP. He was a member and past chairman of the Packaging Management Council Sponsored by PMMI, and was a board member of the Industry Advisory Board to University of Wisconsin for several years. He has also been a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).

- Lectured at The University of Wisconsin and Michigan State University on numerous occasions
- Served as instructor for the preparation class for IoPP Professional Certification in conjunction with Western Michigan University
- Worked closely with UCIMA in Italy to support Italian packaging machinery manufacturer support in the US
Mr. Collins’ love for the Arts brings a unique blend of technical, artistic, inter-personal and multi-cultural skills to his perspective on developing packaging. In addition to his packaging career, he has also been a custom jeweler, touring musician and recording artist in his lifetime.
